Marty vs. Steve Austin

November 1997

In November of 1997, Marty challenged and fought none other than Stone Cold Steve Austin in the HWA. Austin felt he couldn't be beat in the HWA so the Mauler was more than glad to show him the error of his ways.

Marty is said to the truest form of a technical wrestler. His systematic approach to an opponent becomes very clear by the end of a match.

The Mauler continued to work on the neck of Austin. Owen Hart's piledriver may be credited for Austin's bad neck but the 300+ lbs. legdrop from the Mauler will always be in the memory of Austin as equally devastating.

Yet another focused attack on Austin's neck from the Canadian Powerhouse. How much continuous punishment could any man, even Austin, take?

Not too much more. One chokeslam was all it took for the Mauler put Austin on the shelf.
